So....it has been a long while since I wrote here. Well, I'm back, and not with anything elusive, or anything I saw with my dog (though Odin is here with me, holding down the corner of my office.) but rather with the intent to share.
I'll begin with the above. A picture of the infamous Odin. He's a little tired. With all the winter weather we've been having in Philadelphia it is no wonder. I love snow. He loves it more. Together we find that a lot of people in the area harbor ill will toward winter weather, especially when it comes bearing down on the middle of each week. Disruptive, chaotic, a snow storm is an anarchists dream. Mine too, but I'm no anarchist.
Why love it then?
For one, snow brings us all together. By us I mean, generally, my beautiful girlfriend and I (Odin loves to be near us, but being too close for too long he overheats). An uninsulated layer of concrete separates my apartment from the elements. For anyone who doesn't know, that means I pretty nearly live outside. Because I won't turn on the heat (don't worry, we run enough hot water that the pipes don't freeze) body heat is our saving grace....I'm not saying I planned it that way, but I am in favor of the results. Do I feel a little guilty when I get in and she's warming her pants on the space heater, and her hands over the stove. Yeah, a little, but I think the misery is more in the image than the reality.
We are cold sometimes, but we spend a lot of time together. I like spending my time that way.
I guess I am saying, simply, that I have of late been in a better embrace. But, here I am again. I still find that I need more time. I need more time to read certainly. That, I can only do on my own. But with writing, and work, I think you all can help me (not that you are many, but I do value your opinion). Maybe I will post a bit of fiction here now and again, get all of your opinions. I hold my fiction close to the chest, but I know that needs to change.
For now I invite you to check out the video below. I manage social media for www.travelpulse.com, a travel trade industry news website, but occasionally we produce short travel videos. I don't go on the trips, or get the footage, but I write the voice-over and sometimes dictate how they might be edited. Our team is small but we love some good feedback. For today's video we've got Seigfried and a museum of music boxes. It's short, but I think it turned out well. How about you?

Good to see you back Andrew. I must say-as my very first follower-I love you-but not turning on the heat is WAY too extreme for me. I don't have mine set at 72 or something ridiculous but it's sure as heck on.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that Odin is GORGEOUS! What a happy dog. I must say nothing makes me happier than dogs in snow. It's adorable.
I think some of your love of snow comes from the fact that you get to walk to work (right?) it's the driving in it that I dislike--not the snow itself.
I would love to see more of you on blogger-no matter if it's more sights you see walking around with Odin or fiction. I would, of course, love to read your fiction though.
The video was beautiful. I've only been to Germany on a layover to Greece...but this makes me want to go and check it out (that and those 5 wasted years of learning a language I'll never use). Honest to God...I'm not just trying to compliment you--but the voice over information was my favorite part (aside from the stunning visuals), especially the intro and outro *is that even a word?*.
Hello there. I like the no heating idea, although I am myself much more of a summer soul there's something /real/ about being cold in the winter. Just like I don't like being in the shade at the beach.
ReplyDeleteOh, and my internet is too slow right now to check out the vid but will do when i find the patience to wait out the buffering
Hey Camilla, thanks for reading...I'm definitely one to play to the seasons, and love doing it.
